DHARAMSHALA: Tibetans of Dharamshala today welcomed its new settlement officer Mr Dawa Rinchen at a modest felicitation ceremony held at Hotel Tibet, Mcleod Ganj.

Guests at the ceremony include Mr Ajay Singh Mankotia, President of Indo-Tibet Friendship Association, Mr Palden Dhondup, Additional Secretary at the Department of Home, Tibetan Parliamentarians, and representatives of the various Tibetan NGOs and monastic institutes based in the town.

The ceremony began with the public presenting ceremonial Tibetan scarves and serving of butter tea and sweetened rice.

Mr Dawa Rinchen, in his inaugural remarks, promised to serve the public to the best of his capability and urged the public to extend their cooperation for a fruitful service.

Mr Dawa Rinchen is the fourth directly elected settlement officer of Dharamshala which includes Mcleod Ganj, Upper Dharamshala, Norbulingka and Gangchen Kyishong. He took charge of his responsibilities from 15 June.

The tenure of the Dharamshala Tibetan settlement officer is three years.
